Dennis Fentie was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in September 1996, representing the riding of Watson Lake.

In June 2002 Mr. Fentie became the leader of the Yukon Party and first led the party to a majority government in the November 2002 election.

As a business person, he has been involved in logging, tourism, mining, trucking and fuel distribution. Mr. Fentie was owner and manager of Francis River Construction Ltd. in Watson Lake before he entered politics. Until his election as an MLA, he was director of the Association for Yukon Forests. He is also the former director for the Watson Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta on November 8, 1950, Mr. Fentie moved to Watson Lake at the age of 12. He has been active in baseball and senior hockey and is a former minor hockey coach. He has always had a keen interest in history and current affairs.

Mr. Fentie and his partner Lorraine live in Watson Lake.
