First elected as leader of the Yukon party on May 28, 2011, Darrell Pasloski was sworn in as Premier on June 11, 2011. He was elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in October of 2011 in Whitehorse’s electoral district of Mountainview. In addition to his duties as Premier, he also serves as Minister responsible for the Executive Council Office and as Minister of Finance.
Prior to entering politics, Premier Pasloski worked as a pharmacist and business owner, was an active member of Yukon’s business community and had a long record of volunteer service.
Premier Pasloski lives in Whitehorse with his wife Tammie and is the father of four grown children. An active outdoor enthusiast, he enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting and camping.
Yukon’s story is an exciting one, with new chapters written every day highlighting innovation and growth. Our government continues to listen to Yukoners and to invest taxpayer dollars carefully. New programs and infrastructure strengthen our communities and grow our economy. With the well-being and prosperity of Yukoners in mind, we are working to create a territory that pays its own way. Our vision for Yukon includes a diversified economy, a strong private sector, abundant renewable energy, excellent education and training, a strong network of services, and efficient regulatory and assessment regimes, which together will foster responsible development, build on our success, create even more jobs and build better lives for Yukoners. This progress report tells the story of the last four years. Although there is always more work to be done, it demonstrates that as your government we are committed to doing what we promised to do. We look forward to continuing to work together with all Yukoners to make our home the best place to live, work, play and raise a family.
Over the past few months I have had the honour of meeting with more than 100 Yukoners, from all walks of life, through our community conversations initiative.
Participants came with diverse perspectives, but with the shared objective of contributing their time and energy to make Yukon an even better place to work, live, play and raise a family.
During the 17 meetings we engaged in lively discussions, and many good ideas were generously put forward.
I can say with confidence that citizens found these conversations valuable, as did I. I hope to continue these conversations in the months ahead.
Over the coming weeks we will continue to listen to Yukoners through public budget tours to communities across the territory.
These meetings are an excellent opportunity to talk directly to Cabinet ministers about the needs of your families, businesses and communities.
Recommendations from the community conversations, along with those heard through the budget tours, will be considered by your government as part of the 2016/17 budget and in other planning processes.
The premier meet with governors from Mexico and the U.S. on October 31, 2015. As the Vice-Chair of the Council of the Federation, Premier Pasloski represented all Canadian premiers at the meeting.
