Children's Receiving Home opens in Whitehorse

Jim Kenyon, Minister Responsible for Yukon Housing Corporation, is joined by Tom Kerwin, left, Manager of Northern Housing for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. They announced the official opening of the Whitehorse Children’s Receiving Home in downtown Whitehorse.
It's a temporary home for children and youth who need a period of assessment and stabilization after being removed from abusive or neglectful family situations. The new 4,200 square foot facility with eight bedrooms is built to the Yukon’s Super GreenHome standard for maximum energy efficiency.

The $1,121,000 federal contribution to the project comes through Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
